How grandmother may help a baby if his mom is treating baby not good?
Question
There was a lot of thing what this mom shouldn’t do with that baby.
Grandma tried a lot of ways to change it. She was kindly talking to that mom, she was keeping eye and tried to prevent a lot of things. For example 2 weeks baby shouldn’t sleep on the stomach or baby shouldn’t be tightly enveloped in a flannel diaper too long and so go on.
How to do this all:
to avoid conflicts and do not hurt feelings of young mom and to help baby?
Answered by Julie D
well it is her baby, let her be the mom. you can offer advice, but dont try to do her job. when i first had my baby every one kept telling me things about when they had kids, and it was all old info that has been changed. i know its a different deal here, but think about if it was you, you wouldnt like someone telling you how to do everything with your baby. i would say skip the lil things and remind her of the big things that could really endanger the child ie sleeping on the belly
Answered by TwinMama
Are you talking about the baby being swaddled?

I don’t think swaddling does any harm. Belly sleep is a risk factor for SIDS but swaddling should be fine.

Answered by Christine
Honestly unless she is risking the babies life (which she is not) I woudl not say anything as you will cause major problems.
Answered by G&M
Be supportive of mom. She will parent her way to her child. Save advice until either asked or it becomes an endangerment issue.
Answered by Mary Z
I think you need to understand the difference between offering tips and advice and demanding they be accepted and implemented.
As with any new thing we do in life those that have experience offer advice. However these bits of information come from many people (all with good intentions) and it is up to the person doing the learning to decide what is important to them.

Keep up the good work Grandma but let the new parents decide.

What have you baby proofed around your house that never would have thought to baby proof?
Question
Now that I have a 16 month old owning my home I have been astonished by everything that has had to be baby proofed! I am going shopping tomorrow for stove knob covers (never would have thought in 1,000 years to baby proof the knobs on my stove). What have you all found to be over board, but necessary to baby proof as well?
Answered by mama
we have only baby proofed a few things, so i spend ALL DAY keeping the house safe from my 13mth old son!
He’s into EVERYTHING from the toilet to the kitchen sink.
my son is one next week and not walking yet so i havent gotten the full on baby proof stage yet…but…

i’ve had to baby proof the tap spout in the bath

baracade the small glass cabinet (for wine glasses) i just surrounded it by these baby couches we have and he cant move them

the blinds!! and curtains!! cant baby proof them but he loves them

and i’ve had to put our very big and long coffee table right in front of the tv so he cant touch that either!

but i’m constantly chasing after him, i’m scared he’ll pull a kitchen chair on himself, but i cant get rid of them – just have to have eyes like a hawk!!

perks of motherhood lol

Answered by AZNENVAZEN
Me and my hubby decided we weren’t going to baby proof much, we did the chemicals under the kitchen and bathroom sinks, and covered outlets, and I eventually will create some sort of borders thingy to put in front of our entertainment centers. But other than that, we don’t want to bring up our son in a false sense of security. He needs to know he’s not allowed to do things and if he does he can get hurt. The best way to learn something is from your own experience. If he wants to get into my bookcases, he can, but he’s going to very well be helping me put everything back. Only the things I can see being fatal, we’ve baby proofed. I’m sure once he gets older, I’ll soften up and do more.(He’s only 5 months and just starting to crawl) It’s funny how you have your visions of how you’d like to parent, but you always do a little differently. Hahaha

The baby in your pic is such a cutie.

I can’t keep anything on the ground. I mean, seriously, I feel like I have a puppy… Anything left on the ground, she will get to and destroy.

For instance, she’s colored the walls with lipstick, colored the leather sofas with white deodorant, put a number of things in the toilet, and she just tries to eat anything and everything… She also recently broke our TV remote, which was her favorite “toy”… haha

So, mostly I’ve just had to pile everything on the table and TV, etc. She’s not even walking yet (10 months), so it’ll be exciting once that happens.

How presently a baby born to US visiting scholars is being dealt? Whether baby will get US citizenship or not?
Question
Both parents are not US citizen. They just come to USA legally for short study for some time (6-months to one year) and a baby is born to them. Whether that baby would be able to get US citizenship automatically or not? What procedure they should adopt to get citizenship for their baby?
Answered by Box Tops Queen
Baby born in USA, no matter where the parents are from, is an automatic citizen.

Unless you do the right thing and register your child in your country, since you are only a visitor here.

Answered by lmlb918@yahoo.com
It doesn’t matter who the baby in question’s parents are or where they are from. If the baby is born in America, it is an American citizen and is allowed all the rights all other american born children are.
Answered by Charlie
Yes, the baby is an American citizen…you need to be very careful with that American birth certificate, and you should get the baby an American passport. You will also need to get the baby a passport to your home country. You wil need that when it is time to return to your country.
Answered by Julia
A baby born in the U.S. is an automatic citizen…however, the parents are not, and it’s sometimes hard to establish dual-citizenship for the child, so they may end up renouncing it.
When did you start your baby on meat babyfood?
Question
My baby started solids early, cereal at three months and baby food at four months. Now she is five months. I feed her cereal twice a day (morning and evening) and 1 jar stage II baby food for lunch. I was wondering when I could replace that evening cereal feed with a meat and veggie supper-like meal.

*Please no comments like your not supposed to start baby on solids until 6 months so on and so on…I am already aware of all the information about starting your baby on solids.

Answered by fromthecabbagepatch
As soon as my little one was eating the 2 stage foods…I gave her the Gerber beef and what not. I don’t think there is anything wrong with giving it to her now.

Gerber makes it in 2nd stage foods for a reason…if it wasn’t good for them…why would they make it for that stage? I trust Gerber for the most part.

Answered by Pitusi
If you’re aware you might as well feed your baby fish&chips with chocolate cake for dinner.

She’s too young for meat yet.

Answered by mamatohaley+1
I never did the baby meats. They looked too gross to me. I just cooked some meat and cut it up into minced pieces. For example I crock potted a turkey breast. I did not start until closer to 8 months for meat. Veggies and fruit was started around 6 months.

I would ask your ped.

Answered by Stasi
When my baby was little (4-12 months) I used the “Super baby food book” to make all my own baby food. So, my baby was eating all kinds of veges and fruits and such before she was “supposed” to!! My daughter personally didn’t like meat, and still doesn’t – so I never really fed her much of that!!

Good Luck :) S

Answered by sweetpeabre2004
Well as for the “no comments” on the not sopposed to feed them thing…its kind of part of the question…generally your “not sopposed” to feed babys even cereal untill six months, but you know that. You feed your baby early for whatever reason early…but you did it because you thought it was what was best or what was needed. YOU are that babys mommy, only you know when he/she is ready. If the baby handles stage two food well I dont see why it would be an unreasonable jump…but I just woldnt do it myself. Im too parinoid about choking.
